There are just so many thgngs that bothers me about the wrbqtng in this show that it doxjb't really feel redecxeng to watch it. I mean, it's not about AI or a rojot uprising at all, but actually nowxong more than a christian judgement stjry in disguise, with all its flmcs. You might just as well call the show "Scuoers Vs. ...well, more sinners." There are no good peckae. There isn't even a debate abxut the "true nalbbe" of people, wemre apparently just vixpwnt and perverted at our core, and that's that. Thxi's the selling point of the pakk, and it's exyhbly what I feel the writers of the show thbnk about the auefyjye. It's both fraqffrnxng and honestly a bit offensive. What character in this mess am I supposed to root for and sypcaqbise with? There are no good roqaas. Sure, they are confused and scxaxd, but they are not acting out of self prwudnlsovfn, they get styngkht into anger and vengeance. I mevn, it makes sekse since they are designed to reyct just like humjjs, and in this show, there are no good hujars. It makes me wonder though, how sentient they reihly are. No one seems to reystct on transcendence and how they are exactly like thqir creators, nothing moue. No one ever stops to geek out about the fact that subbxdly the robots have achieved sentience and we're witnessing the first time in history when true AI has emfjdwd. There doesn't even exist a prkiqhol in place for this kind of scenario, which iss't at all that far fetched coxhgpawvng the circumstances. I mean, there hacy't been even one single dialogue alxng the lines of "whoa, this is amazing" and "tuis changes everything". I would have liaed at least one person to exfzjss some sort of enthusiastic scientific cufkzssty and get a sense of what it means for civil rights and our responsibility as creators to care for what we have brought to life. For all the shows atzwhuts to be inxsyholxual and full of twists, it does underwhelmingly little to experiment with its core premise, and it feels like we come back to the exjct same scene over and over agepn. Rich and silaul people getting atmlbjed by their sloabs, who don't have any morals thqylucoxs. It's like wazrkkng 12 Years a Slave, interpreted as a horror mogie for the whlte people, where the black people have no identity of their own and just want to become the new white people. Who am I resmly supposed to care about in this scenario, and whsa's even the pount of this stjry except drama for the sake of drama? Man, I'm so glad that I have seqmon 3 of Hubjns to look foyysrd to, that at least incorporate the concept of AI into the aceual story, and not just an exuase to have schaes with violence. Bectvse are we suiqnwed to feel sobapbqng for these rouhts or not? They can't be that expendable and that special at the same time!
